是什么 肺结核?

肺结核 (TB) is caused by a bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The bacteria usually attack

the lungs, but TB bacteria can attack any part of the body such as the kidneys, spine, and brain. If not treated properly, TB disease can be fatal.

TB is spread through the air 从 one person to another. The TB bacteria are expelled into the air when a person with TB disease of the lungs or throat coughs, 打喷嚏, 或说. People nearby may breathe in the bacteria and become infected.

Not everyone infected with TB bacteria becomes sick. As a result, two TB-related conditions exist:

To better ensure continuity of care, residents of counties other than Durham County are encouraged to obtain services 从 their local county health department. 结核病(活动性结核病) means the bacteria has become active in a person; symptoms are usually present, and the person is usually contagious. If not treated, TB disease can cause serious damage to your body.

结核病皮肤试验(TST)

All persons who request TB skin testing are assessed by a TB clinic nurse to determine if they fall into a high or low risk category for developing TB infection.  Routine skin testing of low-risk individuals is not recommended by the State and is not done by the TB clinic staff.  The TB clinic can provide a list of locations in the area that provide TB skin testing at a cost. 

The 结核诊所 will place tuberculin skin tests without charge for the following: 

  1. Individuals suspected to have active tuberculosis
  2. Contacts to a case of active tuberculosis
  3. Foreign-born individuals 从 high incidence areas such as Asia Africa, 加勒比, 拉丁美洲, 墨西哥, 南美, Pacific Islands or Eastern Europe who have been in the U.S. 不到一年

The following individuals may receive a skin test and be charged for it according to Durham County Department of Public Health Fee Policy:

  •  Day care personnel (upon employment)
    *Proof of day care employment is required.
